The Healthcare Facilities Operations Boot Camp & Deep Dive

All-Day Program Overview

The program runs from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and includes two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute working lunch, approximately seven hours of educational contact time within the conference day. The day is organized into three phases:

Phase I — Build for Operations

Specify → Source → Design → Construct → Commission

Operations learns why it must move upstream. A&E and Construction learn what Operations actually needs to successfully own what is being designed and built.

Phase II — Operate with Intent

Know It → Classify It → Risk It → Strategize It → Schedule It → Assign It → Execute It → Document It

The heart of the day. Participants build the operational infrastructure required to reliably and defensibly manage healthcare buildings, systems, and equipment.

Phase III — Steward the Lifecycle

Operate → Maintain → Modify → Evaluate → Renew → Decommission

Daily Facilities Operations data becomes operational intelligence, regulatory evidence, risk intelligence, lifecycle knowledge, and ultimately capital planning information.

Please note that this schedule is tentative and can be adjusted in length and focus as needed. Prior to the program, a pre-conference survey will be sent to all attendees to gather insight into their current operational challenges, pain points, and learning needs. The results will be used to refine the agenda, so the day makes the best possible use of each participant's time.

Learning Objectives

By the conclusion of this Boot Camp & Deep Dive, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the complete healthcare built-environment lifecycle and identify where Facilities Operations engagement is essential before and after turnover.
  • Define Day One Operational Readiness and identify the location, equipment, documentation, maintenance, compliance, risk, training, and CMMS information necessary before Operations accepts ownership.
  • Build a defendable asset-management foundation through standardized location hierarchy, equipment nomenclature, asset classification, and risk assessment.
  • Translate regulatory, manufacturer, reliability, and organizational requirements into an intentional maintenance strategy using Plan → Program → Work Order.
  • Differentiate asset risk from work-order urgency and apply risk-informed approaches to maintenance priority, schedule, frequency, and allocation of resources.
  • Determine appropriate assignment of work using Designated, Qualified, Certified, and Licensed competency requirements for both internal teams and trusted partners.
  • Use CMMS lifecycle data as operational evidence and business intelligence, rather than simply using the system for work-order transactions.
  • Connect operational performance, condition, risk, cost, and maintenance history to defendable equipment-renewal and capital-planning decisions.
